Hurricane Ian made landfall over the southwest coast of Florida Wednesday afternoon as a category 4, bringing devastating conditions to several areas from high winds and catastrophic storm surge. The aftermath has many facing impacts from flooding, debris, downed power lines, uprooted trees, and building collapse. Millions remain without power as Ian continues inland through the state of Florida as a now weaker system. Our thoughts and prayers are with all affected by this historic and destructive storm.
Our Aqua Home Care team members have been vigilantly following details regarding weather implications and implementing plans and protocols for in-home care recipients and care providers. We remain steadfast in both our reachability and in our communication reaching out. Our offices and area case managers are available, and providers are assisting those in their care. Before, during and after the storm, caregivers have provided and continue to provide trusted support. This has included:
- Assisting with storm preparedness
- Providing transportation to evacuate clients to a safe location
- Offering reassurance and comfort to family members regarding their loved one’s safety
- Staying with their clients overnight
- Remaining with their clients for 48 hours to ensure safety and wellbeing
Images and videos are circulating showing the widespread range of devastation caused by Hurricane Ian. Storm warnings remain in effect for parts of Florida. Our team at Aqua Home Care remains on the line with guidance and support, and care providers remain on the front lines with their clients through the storm’s aftermath. We continue to be watchful for any weather updates and changes as this storm travels through and departs our state. To all affected, to all reeling, to all watching and waiting, our hearts are with you. Team members of Aqua Home Care are available and within reach now and always.
